Part 3 of Tom's Instagram live collection, and this time it's All the
Kings. I like this consistency he's showing by letting us hear old
compositions in novel ways. With All the Kings, he's taken a song with a
very clearly defined identity and presented it in a new language. It lives and breathes deep inside the electronics that surround it on
the In Dream album, using those components to
gradually build towards an almost operatic conclusion. The minimalist
nature of this new recording by Tom means that all that is pulled away
to remind you of the simple idea that birthed the dramatics. However, as
much as I love this new interpretation, I do miss that beautiful
instrumental coda at the end of the track that also made it into the
Rahi Rezvani video. So good.
How long this relaxed, extended solo concert Tom's putting together on Instagram will last is anybody's guess, but he does have a rather extensive collection of source materials from which to draw inspiration from so...
Hope there's more to come. Enjoy the music ;)
