This is two songs from Editors' Wintercase Festival show in Madrid on the 17th November 2007. Sadly, the website that streamed this is another casualty in the war against time that we're all fighting, having closed shop sometime since the broadcast. There were only a couple of tracks from the band's set included in the highlights show that this came from, but then again at this stage they were still busy constructing their presence on the live circuit in support of An End Has A Start. This meant only passing glances rather than the joy of being able to watch a full Editors concert broadcast which would arrive a little later on. Even then, we're sometimes forced to wait months just to see their shows (I'm scowling impatiently in your direction ARTE!).
This is Bones and Bullets from the festival, and from the minute that scarf comes off you know they mean business. This is another example of all 4 Editors (in the first format of the band) gelling and playing in such a way that all their contributions are evident. I know I go on and on about this but Mr Urbanowicz's guitar work here manages to sound sloppy but totally accurate simultaneously. Check out the way he bends the notes during Bullets during the "Would you fall down" part, in the same way that Joey Santiago of Pixies does. It gives you that slightly uneasy feeling of your equilibrium being knocked out, causing the world to tilt when he plays.
Some pop trivia for you; Editors also appeared at the Summercase Festival in Spain the same year and you can check that out by clicking here. Enjoy the music ;)
brought to you with lots and lots of lemming-love :) x
