"I'd like to make the record before the end of the year"
Taking The Back Room in 2005 as the starting point, that would have meant writing and recording 4 albums in about a 5 year time span. An impressive feat, but fate would intervene to make sure that didn't happen as 2 years later Mr Urbanowicz would be an Ex Editor and TWOYL became the antithesis of ITLAOTE. The only indicators of the direction they were heading in came in the form of the three last tracks from the Urbanowicz era, The Sting, Two Hearted Spider and Last Day (of which I talked about earlier here). Conventional wisdom and guesswork would suggest that if this genuinely represented Mr Smith's ambitious and positive state of mind at the time, then the cracks must have started showing when they reconvened to start recording new material. Of course, Tom's interview persona is probably far removed from his civilian one so you can never truly know if what you're hearing is 100% accurate or something else.
Ed is sadly absent for this session, instead he's in the studio "trying to make the freshest beats" according to King Leetch. Instead, we have Chris, Tom and Russell doing the acoustic thing for Lauren. There's another milestone moment here as we learn that Chris went full expat and moved to the States the week this was recorded. There's 2 songs, You Don't Know Love and Papillon and some chat in between which was longer on the radio broadcast than in the vido that was released around this time (see below). Enjoy the music ;)

There were some photos (see below) and also some video material released on the BBC website at the time of the show. This version does run slightly shorter that the one above in terms of the interviews, but if you'd like to see what they all looked like while they were playing, you get YDKL, Papillon and some chatter. Enjoy ;)
brought to you with lots and lots of lemming-love :) x
