Heineken Music Hall 1st May 2010 (FLAC Audio)

Here's another show from the ITLAOTE campaign of 2010, in a venue that the band are very familiar with, the Heineken Music Hall in Amsterdam (see here and here for more shows). This was first made public on the web in 2011 by renezand, and thanks very much to you for sharing your work. You did an excellent job documenting the night. The files are being distributed here in their original FLAC format in accordance with the taper's wishes.

So, what's to like about this particular show? Well how about:-
  • Tom pausing to tie his shoelaces at the end of YDKL
  • The old school version of Bones with added "Retreats"
  • Tom screaming at 1 minute 45 seconds into Lights
  • Blood
  • The ominous creepiness of The Big Exit

And if you're in the mood for some Editors trivia, one of the support acts for this show was Airship. An important connection was made around this time, and a glance at this group of stupendously young faces will reveal why.

Take a bow, Mr Williams.

I've been reminded recently about the importance of making sure this kind of thing never gets lost in the clutter of the internet, and its relevance to people finding the band later than the rest of us. Somebody watched an acoustic/piano performance of Blood on the Archive's YouTube channel, and commented that they couldn't believe the song didn't make it onto In Dream. They had no idea of the history of the song, and its place within the catalogue of material prior to E5. I mentioned that it was a track on the band's debut album, The Back Room, and that the original was a little more guitar-heavy than the version they'd heard but that they should definitely check it out. This is thrilling to me, because I know that (hopefully) this person will now go backwards and discover all of those songs for themselves for the first time, in the same way that we all did whenever Editors first burst into our collective consciousness. Another lost soul brought in from the cold to the warmth of gloom-pop heaven. With that in mind......
