Up next is a chance to experience another Editors show from 2008, as the band played the Heineken Music Hall in Amsterdam. They absolutely race through Lights, which has another one of those subtle little additions that the band add when they play things live. At about 1 minute 40 Tom lets out this scream where there's normally a short break in the music, and it's thrilling to hear. I realise how trivial that sounds, but as I've said before it's my firm belief that if you wanted to hear a studio-accurate recording of the band then you can do that at home. Seeing them in concert is a chance to hear a different take on your favourite tracks, which is what makes live music in general so vital.
The "Red rain...." refrain appears again during Spiders, and there's another chance to hear their take on The Cure's Lullaby. Tom takes a moment prior to The Weight of the World to dedicate the song to "The girls in the audience...and the boys". How long has it been since we all had a chance to hear Push Your Head Towards the Air being performed live? It does feel like a forgotten song lately, but this is an opportunity to listen to it just one more time. This is the version with just Tom on acoustic guitar and Russell reprising his duties on the keyboards. All in all it's a great show to a fully partisan crowd, originally taped from the audience and shared on Dime by Hanz (thanks to you, sir).
