"Your love is like a hurricane..." - Tom at the end of Like Treasure
This is a special one. From the opening lines of ITLAOTE where Mr Smith declares Melbourne to be the most beautiful thing he's seen, it's all super smooth sailing until the last notes of Fingers are played at this Australian gig from 2010. It was recorded and shared on the band's official forum back in the day by plains203, and I've dug it back out and dusted it off for another airing for the benefit any of you that are unfamiliar with it. Many thanks to you for your hard work and for making this available way back when, I'm certain it will be appreciated all over again by even more people this time around ;)
I cannot over-emphasise just how good this sounds for an audience recording. On tracks like Escape the Nest, Blood and The Big Exit you can hear everything that's going on, the minutiae that make each song work so well. I was going to go with The Boxer, but for me the standout tune of this set is Like Treasure. It's weird because I'd thought that the version played at Fabric 3 months earlier was my all time favourite delivery of that track, but after listening to this one I'm definitely reconsidering. This take has so much to love, from the little lyrical twist of using the line from the original demo recording that runs "living out our fucking clichés'" instead of "living out or second-hand clichés", to the improvised ending which may or may not be a nod towards Neil Young. The keyboards are much louder than usual here, and there's also Chris playing an omnichord which seems to increase the already frosty feeling that the song invokes whenever I listen to it.
It also has the rare ability that some music has to cross over from a passive experience to something physical, making you feel as though you're being lifted/supported for its duration, only to be released and placed back on the surface of the Earth at the conclusion. The same thing happens with The Boxer, where the end acts as a signal that it's time to rewind and start that feeling again.
Enjoy the music ;)

To accompany the recordings at the time they were released another Editors fan, RhysBP contributed some artwork for those who wanted to make CDs for themselves, and I'm reproducing it here. Thanks very much to you for these (click on the thumbs for full sized snaps):-
Lastly, there were also some fan-shot videos made available at the time, and they are really worth your time if you're curious as to how it all looked back then. They were posted on screenimpact's profile and you can check them out using the links below:-
