This is the complete live stream of Editors' appearance at Lokerse Feesten in Belgium, 7th August 2026. It is one of the best gigs they've ever done. As it stands right now, they only have two more live engagements this year so enjoy the music while you can.
Prior to the set being played out, there was some serious wishing going on around here for something quite specific. We needed a professionally shot version of the unreleased but upcoming song, Rescue. This would be a festival set and, by definition, they are usually required to appease loyalists and the unconverted simultaneously. Munich, oh you know we'll be hearing that. Papillon will surely be included but Rescue? When there has to be space allocated for "Call it In" and "The Rush", it seemed unlikely.
This, however, is Belgium and when Editors are in that part of the world, anything is possible. It's still a love thing and occasionally, and only occasionally, we can have nice things.
There was also the return of No Harm, which sounded absolutely massive and the way Justin rolls it into Heart Attack...so good. For whatever reason, Tom actually dedicates that song to Diana Ross. No Sound but the Wind is played, but it's never been quite as intimate as it is here. There's something in the way Tom just crouches down and looks directly at the audience while he sings (and they sing back). As an observer it feels almost voyeuristic at times, but in a good way.
This show was predominantly about guitars. Munich and An End Has a Start, for example, had more of them being played on them than at any other time in their live history. Aside from the physical addition of new personnel, I think there's there's a very specific reason that the Editors live experience feels very different right now. There's lots I'd like to say on this, and I've been trying to get the words to land right for weeks but I haven't managed it yet.
The briefest version of it is that every album the band has released to date, and the touring campaigns that accompanied them all had a central, naturally occurring theme that developed and played out over time. It is my belief that the Surface, Echo and Sound tour cycle is going to be the story of Nic Willes as an Editor.
His presence has changed everything and in a totally positive way. What follows is not to disrespect to Ben, and I do mean that with all sincerity. Purely from my perspective, they haven't felt this much like a cohesive and integrated band since the end of the Violence era. Everything just fits, feeling familiar but brand new at the same time as evidenced in the new arrangements for songs like The Weight, for example. In the way that Justin and Elliott complimented and advanced Editors' music when they joined, this feels like we're watching a similar evolution with Nic. Where it could all go next is a really exciting consideration to be having right now.
