This encounter took place on the 20th of September at the same Bristol
rehearsal room that had also doubled as the venue for one of Editors'
most size-restricted concerts ever. They delivered a set to an audience
of just 15 competition winners, the majority of which featured new songs
from the EBM album. Once that was done, Tom and Ben retired to a side
area to be grilled by Giulia Salvi for Virgin Radio Italy. The result is
12 minutes of EMB's origin story, as well as some thoughts about the
pandemic and the current state of the world post-lockdown. There's also a
fantastic moment of self-deprecation from Ben when the pressures of
playing to 15 people is raised as a topic:-
"It's not intimidating to me, because I've been playing to 15 people for
years."
Bravo, Sir.
I don't want to make this weird, and I'm sure this is just a "me" thing,
but does the way the chairs are arranged for this make it look like
everyone is taking part in a very strange therapy session (where you're
allowed to drink beer)?
