"Even if we're terrible tonight, I think the crowd will remember seeing us play with all the trams." - Tom
This is a highlights show of Editors gig at a transport museum in Frankfurt back in August 2013 but, sadly, it only contains half of the concert. You can view it courtesy of regular contributor and friend to the Archive, Gracz54. Huge thanks to you for making this available and allowing me to share it here. Much appreciated :)
I love these special concerts where the location or venue itself becomes a part of the story, and there's something very unusual about seeing Editors playing in a room surrounded by old trams and buses. As they say during the interviews around this gig, industrial settings seem to fit the kind of music they write really well. If you think of the concrete claustrophobia of Birmingham that seeped into every note on The Back Room then I'm sure you'll agree. As the sun goes down on a broken town, and the fingers bleed in the factories etc. They also confess that they aren't able to compose upbeat numbers, with Mr Lockey making the point that he's never been a part of anyone or any band that's written a happy song. They need to be careful making such broad, sweeping statements in interviews. People might start to think they're gloomy and that could do all kinds of irreparable harm to their brand...
If you've been able to see any of the VI OLENCE campaign then you'll know that they're been welcoming back some of their really, really old songs into their repertoire. Compositions like Open Your Arms and Fingers in the Factories. It's always fun to hear how the five piece version of Editors handles their quartet-written past, and the set at the transport museum has one such opportunity as they play Bones from the AEHAS album. Also, because 2013 saw the campaign for the band's 4th album The Weight of Your Love, there's tunes played here from that record which aren't referenced nearly enough any more. I'm thinking of Two Hearted Spider and The Phone Book.
The video includes an interview with the band on a tram before they played, as well as a collection of bonus materials. Enjoy the music, everybody ;)

Here's an 11 minute highlights/interview video that was posted on the Telekom website.
To ensure that all fan cravings are satisfied, this video contains footage from the show as well as an ident from the group themselves.
This interview from Rhein Main TV is for all the German fans of the band out there, as it's dubbed into your language. Enjoy ;)
Just what in the world is Editors' "Power Hour"? All will become clear during this chat on a tram with the band just before they bounced onstage. Watch out for King Leetch finding a way to misbehave again, this time using the bell on the tram. Oh Russell.
Filmed just over a week prior to their show in Frankfurt, here's a two part Q and A session with Tom and Russell that was posted on the Telekom website as promotional material for the gig. The interview is short and sweet but there's some interesting stuff on offer. Unfortunately, it was blocked on YouTube courtesy of Merlin who aren't happy that snippets of A Ton of Love are used in the clips. So they are available as direct downloads instead.
