"Thank you very much. We hope you're having a good time. We are." - Tom prior to Bricks and Mortar
Another dispatch from the frontlines courtesy of the Archive's #1 live correspondent, GaryUK up next. It's very much appreciated, and we're lucky to have you around. The Birmingham show was always going to be a big deal because it's technically a return to home soil (although Newcastle also claims that honor for themselves because the Kitchenware offices used to be there).
The show is of course fantastic, as you would expect from a homecoming gig but what did we learn from it? With this being one of the last few shows on the 2013 campaign, I think it's safe to say that this was not the same band that stepped onto the stage at the very-nearly-aborted gig at Werchter 2012. They were undoubtedly a unit, and from the way they played it's obvious. The new songs were delivered here instead of played, and the older numbers like ITLAOTE and in particular Papillon had turned into absolute live monsters. Something which, if I'm correct, could be largely due to Elliott making the claim that he could make the song even better than it already was when he joined the band. Mission:success. Enjoy the music ;)
