Euronews Interviews May 2018

Originally released as two separate clips over two days, I was made aware of these Euronews interviews by Hannah of the band's unofficial forum. Many thanks to you for once again being the extra set of eyes I often need around here ;)

There's some unusually heavy subject matter for an album promotion. It's usually the more standard inquiries as to "Why you called your album VI OLENCE?" or "You folks are a bit fond of the dark, aren't you?". It's easy to forget that these are individuals with opinions, sometimes strong ones, and they have a particular way of viewing the world. I suppose the reason we're not used to hearing them very often is because interviewers just don't often ask. This time around, and most likely due to the site they appeared on, they did. Accordingly this chat with Justin and Ed covers topics like Brexit and wider politics, as well as mental health. It's refreshing, however briefly, to see them occupy a space in a more serious news arena.

One moment I love, and I don't even know why, is the way that the narrator introduces Justin late into the clip:-

"Justin Lockey is the lead guitarist behind the riff that gave power to Hallelujah (So Low)"

"Gave power to". Isn't that excellent? It makes me imagine him sitting atop Mount Olympus with the other rock Gods, eating grapes and throwing down dangerously tasty guitar licks that ignite the Earth below and make the collective booty shake rhythmically. Have you seen the collective booty? It's an awesome sight but that's something for a different post...on a different blog...by a different host. Enjoy the chatter ;)
