For all of you who took part in the #weloveeditors competition but didn't win anything, your luck may still be in. A fan of the band called Marco who was one of the "chosen ones" who attended the listening party at Ridge Farm, has decided that he is not content to just bask in the glory of that achievement. Oh no. Concerned that more people didn't get to go that event he's decided to set up his own competition for the folks that submitted a video, but didn't make the final cut in terms of prizes.
He's actually put together a prize pool from his own personal collection, as well as some items he received from PIAS. As he says in the video, he actually contacted me privately to offer the signed test pressing of VI OLENCE he won, something which was both surprising and extremely humbling. I often forget that anyone is actually reading the blog, as I tend to think of it as more of a personal therapy for this barely controlled addiction to Editors that I have. So when an act of kindness like that comes from a stranger it's always a lovely surprise. However, I don't have a turntable or any way of playing the item in question so I had to respectfully decline the offer. As a collector myself, and someone who has embarrassed himself in the past to procure items by this band, turning Marco's very generous offer down caused a physical pain akin to several toothaches but at multiple locations in my soul. However, seeing that it's now the top prize in this contest, I immediately feel a lot better about that decision. Thank you Marco once again for your kindness. I really do appreciate it.
