The plot thickens. Editors posted the above snap on their Instagram profile yesterday, with Mr Lockey posed deliberately beside a whiteboard with a rather interesting collection of words. Yay! We find ourselves jumping on board the ponder boat to sail away to speculation island again. It contains a list of titles which may or may not be impending tracks for E6. This is great news because it's an indicator that the creative spark is still burning and that they're activity hasn't stalled post In Dream.
When comparing the new list with the one from Mr Smith's now defunct Twitter account in January 2015, we see that there are still a couple of names that have either been abandoned, are laying dormant or have had their monikers changed. They are Dream Dark as Your Heaven and The Wind on the Water. However, He Comes from the Quiet which was also on the lost titles list has seemingly morphed into It Came From the Quiet.
What makes this extremely interesting is the inclusion of No Sound But the Wind on this list. The abundance of unfamiliar songs would suggest that this is a list of working titles, so NSBTW doesn't really have any business being here......unless they're reworking it? This is a band that isn't afraid to alter its material (Papillon, Nothing, Two Hearted Spider etc) so it's possible that they're looking at a new arrangement for the track. If this was a rehearsal list then it makes less sense because they've played that tune so often it's all muscle memory at this stage. Could it be that Editors mk2 are looking to play a new version of NSBTW as a full band rather than it being Mr Smith in a solo spot?
The other more likely motivation was to mess with our heads a little by including the song on the list, because they knew we'd spot it and start forming wild theories about why it was there. They're devious buggers, those Editors. The story continues...
