The show begins with a little bit of showbiz glitter, as Tom alters the words to ITLAOTE to "Sheffield's become the most beautiful thing I've seen". Work that room, sir. Work it! This setlist saw the return of When Anger Shows which had been absent for a little while prior to this. We get the closed-in creepy weirdness of The Big Exit, You Are Fading with its synth intro, and Camera also makes an appearance. Also present is Like Treasure which contains a lyric change with "Ain't it just like the old days?" being replaced with "Wait and see how the band plays" during the first verse. There's something about the way this version has been mixed that makes the synth parts sound even more like a lullaby, particularly of the break just before the "I used to want to be you" lines are sung. It's right out front on the studio recording but it often gets lost during live renditions. Not here.
There's an apology at the end of Walk the Fleet Road from Tom for not singing very well during this show. Not sure if he was unhappy with the vocals generally or during a specific song but there was very little obviously wrong with it to my jaded ears.
I had a trippy flashback moment when listening to An End Has a Start, as I'd forgotten the audience reaction whenever they played it on the AEHAS or ITLAOTE campaigns. They'd sing along with the lyrics, which you'd expect, but also Chris' lead guitar line too. It's like they all transformed into a football crowd:-
