If you became a fan of Editors more recently then this video document from 2007 will probably be interesting to you. It captures the original lineup of the band playing a show in France during November of that year as part of the An End Has a Start campaign. There's an FM radio broadcast of the gig they did 3 nights earlier at the Cigale available using this link.
It's a bootleg in every sense of the word, having been recorded from a vantage point in the crowd by an audience member with the tag A.B.Version (many thanks to you for sharing your work). We're lucky because they used some good equipment to record the show, meaning we great great audio even if we don't have the multi-angle sexiness of a professionally shot film. It also covers the entire set.
The set is a solid representation of the shows at that time, even down to Mr Smith leaving the piano stool to explore the space around it during Racing Rats. I was lucky enough to catch them live during this period and there was a point in the proceedings where he was standing with one foot on top of the piano and the other on Russell's shoulder. There's also Chris' serrated guitar work all over this; the few illicit drops of alcohol in the non-alcoholic pop cocktail. It still sucks that he isn't playing anymore.
This may be the first time that this film has been on offer to stream, and I hope you enjoy taking a look back while we patiently wait for the future to start happening. Enjoy the music ;)
