The Olympia, Paris 29th April 2010 (FLAC Audio)

**Updated 10th May 2022 - Repaired link to interview**

Recorded and made available to the world back in 2010 by achtung_baby01 (many thanks to you for your work), this is Editors playing at The Olympia in Paris during April of that year. The files are being shared here untouched and in their original FLAC format, in accordance with the taper's wishes. Thanks again ;)

I've enjoyed listening to the ITLAOTE tracks again after all this time. You can hear all those electronic influences they mentioned in interviews, like Brad Fiedel (Terminator Soundtrack) and Vangelis (Blade Runner soundtrack). But I also wonder if they were listening to some old John Carpenter soundtracks at the time they were writing, because I can hear echoes of things like Escape From New York, The Fog and even the Halloween soundtrack in there too.

Enjoy an evening in Paris with Editors ;)

Bonus Material - Interview
Filmed backstage at the show, here's Tom and Russell being interviewed for the Culture section of France 24. If I were feeling petty, I could be that guy who has to point out the subtle tells that the interviewer here might not be that familiar with the band.  Tom and Russell are introduced as being from "The Editors" with their latest album being the follow up to their second record, An End Has To Start. However, Eve Jackson speaks French as well as English which makes here infinitely more cultured and cool than me. So it all balances out in the end.

Although this is mostly centred around what was then their new record, In This Light and on This Evening, there's some talk of how they were planning to approach album 4 and continuing their relationship with Flood as its producer:-

Tom - "We're not putting any time constrictions on it...we'll wait and see 'til it comes and press record."

Whatever was actually recorded during those impending sessions has, of course, gone on to achieve mythical status due to their continuing, tantalising residency out of earshot on hard drives owned by members of the band. A couple of years later when they actually began recording their fourth album for real in Nashville during 2013, Chris and Flood would be gone and Justin and Elliott would be in place as members of the group.

Look out for Mr Smith's gig boots, which have now unfortunately been retired from active duty. May they rest in peace. Enjoy the chat ;)
