When Editors visited Italy recently, they played a small and very intimate gig at the Trussardi Cafè in Milan. They gave everyone present a chance to hear 4 new tracks from the upcoming, unreleased album The Weight of Your Love (which I suspect you've already heard in full several times by now, you naughty people!). They also ran through Papillon, with Mr Leetch tinkling the ivories with Tom and Justin on guitar duties. Some of the footage from that show has made its way online, and I've made it available for downloading all in one spot here at the Archive. If you missed the post regarding their show at Museo del Novecento, which took place on the very same day as this gig, you can check it out by clicking here.
There's a very high-brow kind of promotion going on for this album; small acoustic sets played in arty European venues. I really like it, and maybe they'll continue to do it? Perhaps I'll be walking along a street in Rome sometime soon, only to find Editors sitting outside a cafe reading Camus and Sartre, sighing loudly as they wearily debate the futility of life. Then they'll spontaneously launch into a acoustic set, before shuffling on to the next cafe/museum to blow more minds. Or maybe they'll just finish the festival season and then tour? We shall see........
