While we all patiently wait for the fifth and final Nashvile video (subtle hint hint!), here's a little blast from the past when Editors were a very small band indeed. Playing at the Tartan Hart Festival near Inverness in Scotland, Editors were third on the bill performing on the Hothouse Stage. To give you an idea of just how small they were back then, here's who were also playing that day:-
- Jah Wobble
- The Black Velvets
- Editors
- Exist
- Endrick Brothers
- Ruthless Blues
- The Sundowns
This is a run-through of You Are Fading which is, in my humble opinion, one of their greatest songs. Even at this stage in their life as a band, Tom is once again displaying the tendencies that would blossom into full blown piano-climbing and twisted-shape-throwing that he developed as they progressed into bigger venues. Also, there's a moment during the musical break at about 2 minutes and 20 seconds in where it's just Tom and Chris playing melodies together and it sounds fantastic. Were they ever actually that young? Were Tom's arms really that skinny? And were they really playing in a tent that tiny? There's a video and an mp3 rip for you all below, grab and grin you lovely people:-
