Smith and Burrows - Beats For Love Studio Brussel 19th December 2020

A post that gained me a worldwide block when I attempted to add it to the Archive on Youtube after it aired. Nice. My little online museum of gloom will have to do without this artefact. So I've posted a link to the official Studio Brussel recording and also made some MP3s for you folks to enjoy by way of a consolation prize.

Here's Tom and Andy taking part in Studio Brussel's annual Music for Life charity drive. If you were wondering, as I was, just what happened to the Edith Bowman Footage that emerged last week then this will solve the mystery. That 14 second clip now makes a lot more sense in this context. The StuBru video has Andy giving us a burst of Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas (only it was on guitar during the original video), Edith directing from behind the camera (you can hear her telling Tom to clap to get things started and even see the top of her head in a mirror during the intro to When the Thames Froze), and Tom switching on the lights just like he did in what we can now safely say was a dress rehearsal for this set. Breathe out, the mystery is solved.

In terms of the music, I expected the first two songs but the third was a rare treat. It's a cover of a song by Darlene Love which I think was a Phil Spector production way back in the day. All this and a log fire, sleigh bells and some serious Christmas socks should be sufficient to put you in that yuletide frame of mind. Enjoy the music ;)
