Editors Instagram - November 2020

Handsome Devils

November was a month of Moodcore scarcity, I'm afraid.

On the 12th, the band exercised their social conscience by joining a collection of music industry cats declaring their support for the Music Declares Emergency campaign. It sells clothing that is made from organic, ethically sourced material gathered from renewable sources. If you go to the website you'll see Mr Smith and EdiBow modelling  Anthony Burrill designed t-shirts sporting the phrase "No Music on a Dead Planet". This isn't the first time that Editors have donated their time to climate related issues, with one of the most famous ones being their appearance at Play to Stop during September of 2009. As well as doing a set for a fully seated and sedate audience, the band gave a press conference where poor Ed found himself in a tricky spot requiring an iron will and a stone cold poker face. Lesser men would have probably been popping multiple hernias from the stress of keeping it together under those circumstances. Kudos to Mr Lay, and curses to his merciless tormentor (you know who you are).

Editors saw November off on the 25th in optimistic fashion by revealing their intention to perform at Mad Cool Festival in July next year. As ever, plans could change but my mood is bolstered by the fact that they're still trying to put things together, meaning they're a working entity. Who knows, by July 2021 the world may well be vaccine-pretty, wearing party outfits and looking to have some fun (illicit or socially acceptable),  so you just never can tell. Here's to a future. Any future will do.

Before the link to download all the fluff-n-stuff from Editors and their related Instagram accounts this month, there's a little bit of behind the scenes news to drop. Today, Le Cargo's strike against the Archive finally expired, and the tension of waiting for further torpedos to hit has abated somewhat. In reality, it should have been removed by the person who issued it a long time ago, as they promised they would during email exchanges I had with them, but ultimately they changed their mind without telling me and decided not to bother.

Life lesson #36 - People will let you down.

The conclusion of this sorry episode is that, as of right now, the Archive on YouTube is reasonably safe again. Enjoy this month's materials be safe and be well y'all.
