What makes this session special is that we have more virgin territory being explored. Tom plays Darkness at the Door for the first time solo and on a guitar and, in true Editors fashion, it becomes a different song completely. Additionally, there's a cover of...Mirrors by Justin Timberlake. Yep, you read that correctly. He covered a genuine mainstream pop classic. I love it when bands do this; they take a sharp left turn when you expected them to move in a straight line. Also, every time this kind of thing happens it always feels like a middle finger being raised to all the mopey buggers who demand and expect their own version of Editors. They're going to do what they want whatever we think, and here's the proof. It even took Dermot by surprise, as he was clearly expecting some older material. If we never hear this played again, I think it's great that he did it. The broadcast now has infamy with a sense of occasion and fun all at once. Kudos sir.

Bonus Materials
This is a small piece of bonus material to accompany this post. What you see here are three videos; the first is Dermot and Kylie Minogue (we are not worthy) from a week before announcing the band as an upcoming guest, the second is Dermot's cat Socks disapproving of Magazine by Editors, while the final clip is all about dad-dancing and thanking Tom for being on the show. Enjoy ;)
