Glasgow Barrowlands Nov 26th 2013 (GaryUK recording)

Up next it's more mosh-pit memorabilia courtesy of the Archive's #1 man on the barrier, Mr GaryUK. Thanks again for your generosity, Gary. It's very much appreciated.

Another evening spent in the company of Editors as part of the TWOYL campaign in 2013 for you all now. There was an interview a few years ago where the band stated that the further north you go in the UK, the wilder the audiences get. If a Scottish crowd is in the mood for a party, they will make it known and that was very much the case for this show. You can gauge their enthusiasm by the volume at which they sing Chris' lead guitar part during both All Sparks and An End Has a Start. It makes me feel a vicarious pride to see how warmly all the new material was received.

This was a year of new beginnings for Editors. 2012 was all about the question "Can we?", and 2013 provided the answer. As well as the ongoing settling in of Justin and Elliott and new members of the group, and the constant reminders from journalists that Chris was gone, there was also a new album to promote in the form of The Weight of Your Love. It was around this record that the 2013 touring campaign was built, and it saw them take to the road for about five and a half months. This show at Barrowlands was just two stops away from the end of the tour, and I wonder what mental shifts had taken place within all 5 Editors by that point? As you're probably already aware I'm not a guy with insider information, so I obviously can't tell you I know any of this for certain. I would speculate that there was trepidation and anxiety in some quarters in Tokyo at the Hostess Weekender where the 2013 campaign actually began, but equally there may have been a bull-headed determination to silence any audience dissension by just getting in front of people and playing their music. Just the same as when they were a new band starting out, which is ironically pretty much what they were in this new 5 piece lineup.

Enjoy the music, hopefully as much as Glasgow did ;)
