You may disagree with me on this, but listening to most of the songs from The Weight of Your Love almost 5 years later in isolation from the hideous circumstances that birthed them, has given them a totally different look. There was so much angst, anticipation, anxiety and antipathy stemming from Chris no longer being an Editor that I don't feel like they were able to be fully appreciated objectively. Ironic, considering my Editors objectivity is severely compromised at this point, but I'm revisiting E4 now and hearing it in a markedly different way.
Although the 4th album is incorrectly referred to as The Weight of Love during the interview, it's balanced out by the way that super-cool way the DJ pronounces Sugar when introducing the track at the end of the broadcast. That's smooth.
The studio versions of both Sugar and The Weight from the The Weight of Your Love, as well as Tom's cover of Bonny by Prefab Sprout were played by the DJs. In keeping with the Archive's policy of not taking money out of the band's collective pockets, those tracks have been cunningly edited down using all kinds of sophisticated technological techniques and trickery. Impressive! Enjoy the music/chat ;)
