The Archive Index

"Don't let it get lost..."

Welcome to the Lemming Archive.

What you'll find here is everything that I have ferociously, and often indiscriminately collected by the UK band Editors since I first became a fan in 2006. There's no officially released material here as it's not my intention to take money out of anybody's pocket. What it does contain are live shows, interviews, television appearances and some other memorabilia that isn't quite as easy to categorise (Editors condom tin, anyone?). The whole idea in setting this blog up was to assemble everything in one place so that other Editors fans would be able to delve into the band's history, as well as catching up with their current activities. The links below will help you do that.

Whether you've been an Editors fan for a while or you've only just discovered them, I'm really glad you're here. Have a look around and take whatever you want, support the band and most importantly of all enjoy the music ;)

Polskie Radio Session 10th December 2025

This was a radio session recorded for Polskie Radio on the 10th December 2025. There were actually two broadcasts covering the event, one had Tom playing to a small crowd and the other was an in-studio where he chose some of his favourite records. I've spliced both of them together to give you a more convenient listening experience. It means you get just over 50 minutes of Tom Smith goodness to enjoy.

The first part is the session, and please note that this is being shared in exactly the same order as it was broadcast. It will feel weird hearing Tom signing off to the crowd after Munich, only to return and play more music afterwards. Munich was the set-closer. Also, the favourite songs segment starts with what sounds like a final question regarding the future of Editors, before Tom returns for more chat. Weird, but a good weird nonetheless. Embrace that weirdness, and all weirdness in general. Life will be so much more fun if you do. And weird.

The second part of this video contains a sit down with Piotr Metz as part of his Personal Lists show. Artists drop by and share some of the music that has inspired them over the years, and it's no surprise that R.E.M. showed up again as a choice. He really digs that band. As ever, included here are just the intros to the tracks selected as I don't want the algorithm of copyright breach death to descend on me again.

I won't spoil it by telling you what topics come up during the interviews but I loved hearing about how Tom's lyric writing differs between Editors and his own solo work. I suppose that presenting your music in a much more stripped down format will inevitably expose any "unusual lyrics" much more. God is a car dead in a field? It takes a fat lip to run a tight ship? Well, quite.

I'ts not covered here, but I remain very curious as to how he selected which songs go to Editors and which were kept for the solo record, given they all start out the same way.

Enjoy the show ;)

Editors Instagram - November 2025

A recurring question related to Tom's solo adventures has consistently been the immediate future of Editors. Photos taken from a rehearsal studio throughout the year have shown the band together in what appear to be rehearsal/ideas sessions. As of November, we now have a duality of things happening; Tom confirmed a Spring tour for 2026 in his own right and Editors announced that they will be appearing at some festival shows in the Summer.

June
Sat 20 - Netherlands, Landgraaf, Pinkpop

July
Sun 12 - Belgium, Bruges, Cactusfestival
Fri 31 - Spain, Torrevieja, Low Festival

August
Sat 8 - Belgium, Tienen, Suikerrock
Sun 9 - Belgium, Lokeren, Lokerse Feesten

Taken from Hannah's forum, check there for regular updates as they happen.

Some other highlights from the month included the arrival of an acoustic session given by Tom for 3FM, and a few days later Tom played Broken Time on his social media. On the 24th, hewas a guest on Dermot O'Leary's Alternative Sounds of the 90s show.

European Engagements - December 2025

This is a collection of three short films chronicling some of Tom's most recent promotional duties in Europe, supporting the release of his debut album There is Nothing in the Dark That Isn't There in the Light. It ends with a "Behind the Album" feature courtesy of Tom's label PIAS where he discusses some of the background to recording the aforementioned record.

Enjoy the film ;)

Two Belgian TV News Items featuring Tom 7th December 2025

I was directed to this one by Editors' ever vigilant superfan/professional stalker Hannah, who was actually there for the show. Thanks, H.

Courtesy of Kerlijne Everaet, Wout Van Springel and the folks at VRT and RTV News respectively, these are two short features on a very special gig that became two very special gigs on the same day.

Initially, this was a PIAS showcase that was to take place at the Hnita Jazz Club in Belgium, on the evening of the 7th December 2025. The show was announced, and the tickets went on sale. Unfortunately for potential audience members the  tickets sold out in a minute. To quell the obvious demand, another set was added on the same day but mid-afternoon. Tickets were made available and, once again, they sold out in a minute. The conclusion to be drawn from all of this is that if you're planning on going to see Mr Smith play live next year, you should probably grab those tickets sooner rather than later. These small intimate shows are proving to be very popular indeed.

If you ever wondered how Tom copes with audience members telling him they love him mid-show, this film provides the answer and it's just as charmingly awkward as you would expect. Enjoy the film ;)

Tom Smith - Loose Ends with Clive Anderson 8th November 2025

One last present from Hannah, big thanks to you for passing these along, H.

This is so trippy. I haven't listened to Clive Anderson for years, yet this is exactly how I remember him being when he was on the TV show "Clive Anderson Talks Back"; awkwardly friendly and with a strong undercurrent of sarcasm.

As I say, I'm unfamiliar with his recent work but my goodness this felt rushed as all hell. Like the show is a fast moving conveyor-belt, with guests quickly passing by whilst picking up the occasional withering comment from the host. The promotional grind is real, Mr Smith.

Tom Smith - Live on the Stephen McCauley Show 7th November 2025

One more gift from Hannah. Thanks again.

This is a session that Tom recorded for Radio Ulster, as part of the Stephen McCauley show broadcast on the 7th November 2025. Contained within are three songs and an extended interview with Tom.

Stephen asks a lot of good questions here, which brings out some interesting answers. There's a delightful contradiction in hearing about one particular driver underpinning the creation of Tom's solo record. He states that the primary motivator was one of selfishness, of wanting to be less collaborative with others. Yet later on in the interview he mentions that as well as Iain Archer being a producer, he collaborated with him on the songwriting, and especially lyrically. This pushed him to greater heights,  so much so that without Iain, he goes on, the album would never have come together.

I've said before that I love hearing about the structures of songs being assembled, and this is an excellent example of that. Enjoy the show ;)
