Tom announces his debut album 14th August 2025

The wait is over. Tom has announced the title of his new album, his first outside of Editors. It's called There is Nothing in the Dark That Isn't There in the Light, and it'll be released on the 5th of December 2025. The track listing is as follows:-

1. Deep Dive
2. How Many Times
3. Endings Are Breaking My Heart
4. Life Is For Living
5. Broken Time
6. Lights of New York City
7. Souls
8. Northern Line
9. Leave
10. Saturday

There are pre-order links available, and you can access them using this link:-

To accompany the big reveal, another single dropped and it's called Life is for Living. We've heard part of this being played already, in a video that Tom shared in the very beginning of July, and more recently in some behind the scenes tour rehearsal footage. To hear the song in full, head over to youtube using this link.

There was also another "secret" video posted via Tom's mailing list, which features a cameo from River the dog and a chance to mispronounce the surname of a man he's about to go out on the road with. You can watch that here

There seems to be a definite diversion from standard industry practice in terms of how the logistics of all this have played out. Ordinarily, the touring cycle tends to coincide with and follow on from the release of an album. A band will do some warm-up shows and then they tour that record once it's officially out there. This time around, Tom is playing and completing his tour 2 months before the record even goes retail. Which has me thinking that this burst of live activity might not be as complete and neatly bookended as it appears. Is there a possibility that this tour will be extended, possibly further afield?

If things were approached in the same way that the UK and Ireland tour has been executed then why couldn't there be more intimate shows overseas? Like the one they did in Museo del Novecento, Milan? Or the amazing acoustic set they did in the Military Museum for 3FM? Tom is, first and foremost, a musician and they tend to like to be heard, wherever possible. He's been working on this record for some time, and it's a big deal that it's finally here. I'm struggling with the notion that in a world this big, and with an obvious need to express himself and reach others through the songs he creates, Tom wouldn't feel that desire to take his new record to other places if the offers were there.

As if all that wasn't enough, there was an email from Editors' own mailing list who shared all the information above but also said there would be Editors news coming soon, but to enjoy Tom's record in the meantime.  Exciting times...

brought to you with lots and lots of lemming-love ;) x
