So far, the one thing that's been missing from the band's expedition to the United States is an audio record of the trip. A keepsake for those who were able to participate in the gigs and a digital representation for everyone else whose attendance was impaired by geography. This is when you cross your fingers and toes in the hope that there's someone in at least one of the crowds who has recording equipment and a generous nature. It is to our benefit that we actually have such a person in the form of johntake who recorded Editors' date in Los Angeles on the 13th May 2018. Many thanks to you for making your work available, it very much appreciated. The files are being shared here in their original FLAC format in accordance with the taper's wishes.
What thrills me most about this recording is just that people in the States got a chance to see the band play live again (or even for the first time). When the February/March 2016 tour got cancelled it would have been reasonable to assume that it would never happen, that maybe this was a last chance that had slipped by due to cruel circumstance. Not so. A lot of this is down to the smarter touring schedule they're on. They aren't being bounced all over the place without a breath and with more pockets of recuperation, the band have been able to keep the energy levels up and avoid any plagues and maladies that creep in when exhaustion starts to take a hold.
How about this for an exercise in perspective; this tour was a coming out party for all three albums that Editors Mk2 have done because they hadn't been to the United States since 2010. The last time audiences there saw the group, Chris was still an Editor. As I said earlier I love that they made it back after 8 years but it grieves me that they weren't able to experience songs like Life is a Fear, Two Hearted Spider and The Pulse in person. The best thing about this particular life that we're all currently involved in, however, is that the future is unwritten and so you should never say never...
Enjoy the music ;)
