Orf Kultur Interview with Tom and Justin 19th April 2018

Primarily in German, here's a short interview with Tom and Justin from Orf Kultur on the 19th April 2018. In terms of the subject matter there are essentially three parts to this interview; the first being deadly serious while the other two are much more upbeat and colourful. The biggest irony here is that as well as providing subtitles for German cats who are tuning in, they also do some intrusive overdubbing as well. This means that if you don't speak German, and you want to know what's being said, you're screwed. Or are you?

First up is the video and then underneath I've provided a transcript of what was said. I wonder what Misery Man's super power would be? The ability to avoid sunlight? A scowl that can melt solid steel? A spidey-sense that alerts him to the presence of other people...so he can avoid them more effectively? The mind boggles. Enjoy the brief but humorous chatter ;)

Translation
On the subject of Hallelujah (So Low) being inspired by his experiences visiting the Filippiada camp in Greece 2 years ago:-

Tom - Seeing people living in the dust, only existing because of the help from other people..yeah, those feelings in that way was in that song.

On the topic of trying to find a balance between electronic and rock sounds for VI OLENCE:-

Justin - I just came up with this ludicrous guitar riff and it stuck. But when it first happened it was like, "You can't do that! You just can't do that". Then we refined it a bit and it sits pretty well."

Lastly, when asked about their onstage personas:-

Justin - You kind of slip into different a very different character as soon as you walk up the steps...which is odd.

Reporter - Like a superhero?

Justin - A very miserable superhero. Misery Man!

brought to you with lots and lots of lemming-love :) x
