RTL2 Radio Session Paris 13th March 2018

To an obsessive fan, and occasional bootlegger, the amount of furious activity surrounding the band lately has meant that lyrics to Ocean of Night are remarkably appropriate:-

Inhabit the calm of the storm

The upside is that there's so many items to watch and listen to that you forget about the severe Editors-related drought we were in prior to the VI OLENCE campaign taking off. The disadvantage is that keeping up with it all has become a full time job away from actual work. Would I have it any other way? Nah.

So we go from the sublime splendour of the Studio Brussel Showcase at Academiezaal (Sint-Truiden) the night before, to a gig at the Hard Rock Cafe in Paris for RTL2 on the 13th of March 2018. This is the complete RTL2 broadcast as show aired live on the night, with only some officially released music removed in the interests of not ripping folks off. It begins with an interview with Tom before the main set with Justin and Elliott. The setlist here as been tweaked to fit into the allotted time given and so, unlike the Studio Brussel gig, there's no Blood. As I've already said, I'm really enjoying these acoustic shows as a change of pace to the usual bombast that accompanies the early section of an album promotional campaign. And if you thought you knew the lyrics to A Ton of Love...think again. Enjoy the music ;)

One of the things Justin has brought up in interviews recently, was that it would be unthinkable 10 years ago to tell people they'd attend future concerts and be watching the show on a tiny screen in their hand. That's what this feels like. The footage from the live stream has the unsteady camera work of somebody that was just standing by the side of the stage filming on their phone, trying not to be caught by the bouncers. It's a real pity because as well as the band being on form right now, the audience here are truly amazing. They're much closer to the band and they make a lot of noise. Check out the participation during Papillon and Formaldehyde, it's awesome.
