Editors Instagram - December 2017

That's it, then. 2017 is now officially something we refer to in the past tense. It was a time of live shows, a very limited-release song that we haven't become acquainted with yet in the form of Dream Dark as Your Heaven, and best of all some brand new Editors tunes. Songs with lyrics that were very, very easy to discern from even a single listen. From the very start, we were all full aware that Magazine was all about fat lips and tight ships, and nothing at all to do with buckets, fuck-heads or tight shits. No really, we were.

Ahem...

I mentioned last month that every ambiguous photograph posted by Mr Rezvani could be a clue to the artwork he's working on for E6. In December, we finally received the confirmation that the process was indeed underway because on the 9th he came right out and posted a snap entitled:-

friday Night out at work
Notice the capitalisation of the word Night there. Grammatically speaking, you would expect the capital letter to be right at the beginning of that sentence, but there it is in word number two. Secondly, the tag underneath it read:-

Night,... artwork progress for @editorsofficial by #rahirezvani

There's that word again. It could signify something terribly relevant, but then it could be nothing at all. Maybe it's a reference to an impending title, Rahi's preferred time to work, or the band's proclivity to late evening? Whatever the meaning, it got a response. The story developed and evolved on the 12th, as a besieged Rahi posted a photographic response to the inquiries he'd obviously received from fans about the upcoming work he's done for the E6.

The arwork for Editors 6 done last night. This is the answer to all Editors fans who send me messages about it. It's up to Editors when they want to release it. My part is done. Enjoy.

This was a statement of two halves; the first one being that the artwork is complete which is exciting to hear. The second  is an impossibly polite plea, particularly in social media terms, for all those fans who are frothing at the mouth and sending private messages to stop hassling him for any insider information. Understandable. The major benefit of using platforms like Facebook and Twitter is that it brings you closer to the people you admire and can often make contacting them ridiculously easy. On the other hand, the major downside of using platforms like Facebook and Twitter...is that it brings you closer to the people you admire and can often make contacting them ridiculously easy. Everything changes depending upon your perspective.

An unfortunate byproduct of being a part of Editors' universe is that you immediately become visible on fan-radar. Some of our number will hunt you down with questions in a never ending quest for knowledge that will never end. We're devoted, maybe even slightly unhinged, but it's usually all done with a firm underpinning of love and respect.

What's on offer here is the collected photographic jetsam cast overboard from the flotilla of gloom that was Editors in December 2017, but there's more. As is becoming customary here at the Archive, I've assembled all the material from every month of 2017 and made it available as a single link zip file. This means that you're covered for all the interesting videos and snaps that happened this last year, and more than prepared for the impending one.

On that note, by the time I do the next year-end collection for 2018 Editors' new album will have been released, and they will no doubt be headlong into the campaign to promote it. We will finally have heard studio versions of Cold, Hallelujah (So Low), Magazine and The Pulse as well as others we don't even know about yet.

I c a n n o t  w a i t .

A happy new year? Hell yeah it is ;)
