From Editors' Instagram story feed, here's 15 seconds of audio goodness from a studio somewhere as Mr Lockey picks the strings. Aside from The Pulse, Magazine, Cold and Hallelujah (So Low) this could very well be the sounds of a fifth unreleased Editors tune. There's enough to get a vague sense of the song (if you turn it up to ear-damaging volume you can hear vocal harmonies and Ed's drums), but the big question is just what we're listening to here. Let's speculate wildly, shall we?
Our woman on the inside reckoned that they could be releasing something over the summer, possibly one track. Is this it? She also thought that they may be going back into the studio in September, but here they are 2 months early. The caption on the video says "Studio E6", which would seem to indicate that it's a song destined for the album. But knowing that Editors seem to enjoy messing with their fans' heads occasionally, and that they do have a habit of pulling extreme left turns when you thought they were heading right, the text could be a red herring. One thing we know for sure is that the bulk of the new songs we've heard all have guitars up front with electronic elements, so E6 seems unlikely to be a continuation of that synthetic In Dream vibe.
