This was spotted by fellow fan Margit, thanks very much to you for the heads up ;)
What's hip on the streets, what are the kids into and where in the name of Satan's rosy butt-cheeks is the new Editors album? The one lady who's perfectly placed to give us some inside information on at least one of those questions is Edith Bowman. During one of her regular Periscope broadcasts while her show at Virgin Radio was going on, she dropped 30 seconds of knowledge that will definitely give you something to think about. I've ripped the relevant segment from the hour long video and posted it here for you to check out, all credit to EdiBow for sharing it in the first place.
Somebody asks the question "When's the new Editors album out, Edith?". It sounds as though she's as much in the dark as we are (and boy, do we love the dark), unless she's been able to develop a totally convincing poker face over the years. She does give away something very interesting regarding a possible new release this summer.
Edith also says that they may be going back into the studio in September, but it's unclear if this is to record new stuff, to mix, or maybe even to just continue what they began in Oxfordshire in a different location? If you remember, Tom posted a picture of himself on the way to the studio on April 10 with a tag that read:-
"band practice ... ox commute ... 2 weeks left"
Which means that technically they finished that block of recording at the end of the month, but they might not be at the point of being able to say "We're done" just yet. During the In Dream sessions they seemed to get all the major leg-work done in Crear, before doing all the final preparations and mixing in a London studio with Alan Moulder. They may be using the festival campaign as a way of tightening everything up as a group before they go back for another round of studio-bothering?
As usual, it's all conjecture, and it's times like these that you wish we had a hotline to the band. We could ring them up, day or night, and ask them all of our fan questions in a row. Not only would we get the answers we crave in an instant, they would have the pleasure of giving up their waking/sleeping hours and any chance of a normal, productive life in return. Win-win! Or maybe not...
brought to you with lots and lots of lemming-love :) x
