Not as comprehensive and all encompassing as its title would suggest, this is still a very informative little film by Michael Vazquez C featuring Mr Smith and Mr Urbanowicz. They run through Editors' history up until the time of filming, and the clip has acoustic performances of ERM=RM and Papillon. There's also some live stuff shot from the press pit at one of their shows. The video claims to be from Winter of 2010, and I'm almost certain that the live footage was taken during the band's show at Terminal 5 on the 19th of February that year.
You would think that given the small amount of actual talking being done in the 20 minutes this video lasts, that you wouldn't gain anything new. Particularly if watching Editors interviews has become a weird, almost full time occupation over the years.
(cough)
But there are some insights here that I wasn't aware of. For instance, they were apparently so burned out from the extensive touring during the Back Room campaign, possibly over 18 months of roadwork, that they required real help in the studio when it came to recording AEHAS. Then, as they say themselves, they didn't learn the lesson and proceeded to tour the living hell out of their second record for about 15 months once it was done. They mention the fear of being forgotten if they hadn't gotten the follow up to the Back Room out in a decent enough time, something that has historically resulted in the dreaded "sophomore slump" for some bands, because they rushed their second record without the songs being properly ready.
An interesting clip, even if the sound is a little low in places. Sorry about that, folks. Enjoy the music and chatter ;)
