Up next is a recording which possesses its own mark of infamy, owing to the way in which the evening ended for some of the audience but not others. Editors' show at the Cambridge Corn Exchange was recorded by FoxyDucker on the 17th of March 2010, and the files are being shared here in their original FLAC format in accordance with the taper's wishes. Really good sound quality on this one, especially evident during The Big Exit and NSBTW. Many thanks to you for making your work available way back when.
The first confession to make is that this is an incomplete recording. A large part of the encore is missing, but with good reason. Everything about this show is running to schedule until No Sound But The Wind. At a point during the song a siren in the venue starts going off, making a high pitched noise that you can hear in the background of the recording. The song ends abruptly, before Mr Smith tells the crowd:-
"There's a fire alarm, hopefully we'll be back."
Faced with the possibilty of a potential incident with a crowd this large, everyone was ushered out of the venue. After all, nobody wants to read the headline in the following morning's newspaper "Editors were on fire at the Corn Exchange!", and have it literally mean just that. So for a few people, the taper included, that was the end of their evening as they believed that they wouldn't be allowed back into the building. It was their cue to exit, and they took it. Unfortunately for them, but fortunately for those who stuck around, the powers that be gave permission for the show to conclude once it was established that there was no fire and the band played the remaining 3 tracks from the setlist. I know that technically I should withhold this recording on the grounds that it isn't a full representation of the night, but xmas is no time to become Scrooge-Lemming and so I'm sharing it anyway, for all you people who can embrace the experience in spite of its imperfections. Enjoy the music ;)
