During each media cycle for every successive Editors album campaign there's usually a journalistic sub-plot that develops the more interviews you see or hear. The Back Room was all about influences, formation of the band and why they were ripping off Joy Division. An End Has a Start's questioning tended to focus on the pressures of following up a successful debut, why they were such moody buggers, like Joy Division were, and why death kept popping up in their songs. For E3, it was all about the perceived change of style to electronic music....and why they were ripping off New Order. Sigh. Take a minute, and sigh again.
When asked to compile a 5 song musical playlist, I want to strongly disbelieve Mr Urbanowicz really digs Driving Home for Christmas by Chris Rea. However, he does have a disturbing and unhealthy passion for Phil Collins, so anything is possible. Plus, the last question they get is "Did you lie during this interview?" and it's a fairly emphatic no, which could of course be the biggest lie of all.
Incidentally, the question relating to how they feel about headlining the Olympia is relevant to the Archive, because I actually have that show available to download here. If you want to check it out, use this link.
