These are the two tracks that Editors played on the Jimmy Kimmel live show during February of 2010. You get Papillon and Bricks and Mortar, with the latter being cut off when the television show aired. However, it was also available to watch at the Jimmy Kimmel website as a complete song and that's the version you're getting here.
Papillon is a more truncated, leaner beast here than the studio take, and Bricks and Mortar doesn't have that extended fade out that Mr Smith normally does when they do it live. It's a solid run through of both songs but, strangely enough, it's not the band that steal the show on this occurrence.
Absolutely massive respect to the guy in the audience wearing the red shirt, who acted as a fine representative of Editors fandom. He's positioned in the front row to the left of the stage as you look at it and he has most certainly come to get down. The cameras cut to him a few times and not only does he do some solid air drumming to Papillon, but he does his own interpretation of the lyrics to Bricks and Mortar. Fantastic. Considering this is America and the band don't get there that often, this gentleman is obviously more than aware of who they are and more importantly of the songs. Good job, sir. I hope you're still out there doing your thing. Enjoy the music ;)
