Colston Hall Bristol 12th October 2015 (FLAC audio)

The In Dream tour campaign saw some serious roller-coaster style moments in its time in terms of events that took place directly in or within its orbit. Crippling illness, terrorist attacks and this event that happened just over a year to the day of this post. This gig contains something of a rarity for an Editors gig; Mr Smith taking setlist directions  from the audience midway through a show. To give you all the back story, on the day of the concert there was a huge fire at some nearby student flats on Colston Street in Bristol. Colston Hall, which was the venue for that night's live festivities  is literally a 2 minute walk from the scene of the fire. You can see it in the photograph below, and it eventually spread to take out the entire top floor.
The surrounding area was closed off and for a while it looked as though the concert wouldn't be happening as a result. Mercifully, the building was empty at the time and nobody was killed or seriously injured as a result. I think it was speculated at the time that the blaze was due to a pan being left on a stove, if I'm remembering this correctly? Luckily for the group and the fans the fire brigade got it all under control to the extent that the evening continued as normal for everyone.

Just after Tom returns to the stage for his acoustic encore after the band played Fingers in the Factories, he starts what I think is the most dialogue that he's ever exchanged with a crowd before (buggering up the intro to The Pulse at Best Kept Secret 2016 is the only one I can think of more recently). I won't spoil it for you by detailing exactly what was said during during the Bristol gig, but in summary thanks to a text by Mr Smith Senior the audience ended up with 2 acoustic tracks that night instead of the usual one. If that wasn't enough to make this evening a rarity, the band also played Our Love from In Dream which doesn't happen that often, as well as Tom managing to completely forget the second verse of Munich. There's always drama at the Archive ;)

This recording was shared by our newest friend and contributor to the blog, Ultrahome who was there on the night it all went down. All of the files are being distributed in their original FLAC format in accordance with the taper's wishes. Many thanks to you for sharing your work with us here, sir. It's appreciated. Enjoy the music ;)
