The sound and picture here are a little bit iffy, so apologies in advance. The source material wasn't great and the problems you'll experience were present within it. Additionaly, I should warn you that there's some extremely banal questioning ahead.
Mr Smith and King Leetch were interviewed as part of the band's trip to Toronto Canada for VFest, back in September 2007. It must be frustrating as a group to be asked similar questions on the same old topics over and over again, as part of the relentless campaign to promote themselves on tour. However, what must be equally draining are questions that are just dreary and/or completely pointless. There are only a finite and easily calculable number of hours in a day, and when you're on the road I would imagine that the amount of obligations you have means that your time does become more precious. It should, of course, be respected as such. This, is not a good way to spend that time.
There are moments of awkwardness here that are so transparent, you'd notice them even if you were cringing under a large heavy duvet with your eyes shut, a potato sack on your head, and the Reign in Blood album by Slayer at full volume in your ears. Don't believe me? Watch Mr Smith's face at around the 3 minute mark. I could be reading her wrong but the interviewer may have been looking for a laid-back kind of interview style, but it actually comes across as disengaged or even a little indifferent at times. When she tells them that the new album is "fantastic", for example, she actually looks completely in the opposite direction of the people in front of her. As uncomfortable as it is to watch, it's still Editors and so it must be shared. Enjoy ;)
brought to you with lots and lots of lemming-love :) x
