Up next is another show from the ITLAOTE tour, this time from the Palladium, Cologne on the 12th November 2009. What the hell am I doing posting a picture of Joey Tempest next to Tom? Read on...
Apparently the 80's hair-metal and tight-trouser enthusiasts, Europe, were playing a show on the very same night that Editors were in town. This was clearly something which wasn't lost on the band. Before Bullets, Tom tells the crowd that this is "The Final Countdown", and prior to Munich he thanks the audience present for not attending the Europe gig. Then in a moment of inspiration, Chris briefly plays us an improvised (and off key) bit of The Final Countdown. We can probably deduce that the song isn't in heavy rotation on the Urbanowicz turntable, given his inpetitude and recreating the guitar line on the spot. Depending on your own personal opinion, that's either a terrible crime of omission or a blessing for his cool rating. Whatever side of the fence you land on, you have to concede that Rock the Night by Europe is awesome. Come on now, deep down you know it is.
Side thought: Is it just me or does Tom seem much more loose and involved when he's playing Munich this time around?
The show was originally recorded and shared by Zimmy21 (thank you!), and the files are being shared here in their original FLAC format in accordance with the taper's wishes. Enjoy the music ;)
