Mr Smith's Vocal Range

There are moments when you're an Editors fan where life takes a turn for the peculiar. Seemingly out of nowhere, this little beauty arrived online 4 days ago. According to the article in a popular tabloid newspaper, Tom has the best vocal range in the UK, even if that's "not who you thought it would be".

When you consider that, in terms of Tom as a live performer from the Snowfield/Pilot/The Pride days, we're over 10 years in at this stage then the lazy Joy Division comparison is a little redundant. What's even more depressing, is that I guarantee there are some younger music fans reading the article and asking "What's a Joy Division?". Singing in a deep voice doesn't automatically mean you're aping Mr Curtis, but it seems like that's a curse you have to endure if that's your style.

All moaning aside, I'm genuinely happy that Tom has been recognised as a vocalist,  and anything that opens the doors to more people who may not have had a chance to hear Editors yet is a-OK by me.  So just who did "the singer out of Editors" beat in this contest? Here's the full list of performers and each of their respective vocal range.
