"B R E A K S M E, B R E A K S M E....."
This post will be an attempt to gather as much of the great quality fan footage of Editors' recent 3 concert Russian adventure, and make it all available in one place. As with previous posts of this nature, the videos are shot from the audience and as such they have that authentic "bootleg" feel to them which I absolutely adore. I can't promise you complete coverage of all the shows, but the quality of the videos that we do have will hopefully make up for that.
Huge thanks to the Russian fans I've been in touch with so far for their kindness and their willingness to share. It's very much appreciated.
I'm still contacting tapers for permission but we might as well get things started. I've listed the setlists for each of the three shows, and the footage available so far. This will most definitely be a work in progress, and I'll continue to add to this post as I collect and upload more. Check back for updates.
Bonus Material - Musical Express Russia Interview
Give 'em a couple of glasses of wine and just let 'em roll. Here's Ed and Justin being interviewed backstage during Editors' three gig odyssey in Russia in Late August 2013. There's some fascinating tidbits in amongst the chatter, including the revelation that at that time Justin had never heard the live version of Two Hearted Spider with Chris involved. So if he wasn't using that as any kind of referece point, it would naturally lead to the question of whether or not he heard the version recorded during the Flood sessions prior to the band reworking that track for TWOYL. Maybe the band just went into the studio with a demo from Tom that they'd perhaps tried to work from the first time around with Chris, and just took that in a different direction from scratch?
We also learn about the nicknames wihin the band, the possibility of them doing a political record, and what essential items Russell neglected to bring on tour this time around. Fun stuff ;)
