BBC Midlands Today Interview 7th May 2013 (video)

Here's a behind the scenes look at the making of the promo for A Ton of Love as featured on last night's BBC Midlands Today show. This is the extended video from the Midlands Today Facebook page, which is in HD and runs at over 5 minutes as opposed to the television broadcast that was half that length. It includes more chat with both the band and with the director of the promo clip.

From watching this clip, I'm guessing that the band must be in an uncomfortable position regarding The Chris Question. Do you address it up front, as they have done in both this and the Zane Lowe interview a couple of days ago, or do you sit waiting for it to be asked by the interviewers, which I would imagine brings its own stress? A strange situation because to me,  this really does feel like Editors as a new band, so the constant reference to that part of their past must be like trying to take off and fly with weights attached. Even so, I'm sure they'll manage it.

One thing I take issue with in this clip is the reporter playing fast and loose with history. He makes the claim that Editors have been away for "a couple of years". Stop right there, bloke! They've been away for FOUR SODDING YEARS!!!!!! Don't try and pull the wool over my Editors-obsessed eyes! You don't spend every day chanting the lyrics to Come Share the View and making burnt offerings to the Shrine of Editors (it's actually just their first three albums positioned in a row on my mantlepiece) without noticing how long you've been doing it. So to recap on this rant, not "a couple of years". 4 YEARS, god dammit!!!

Did I mention that I'm glad to have them back? Check it out, folks:-
