Tom Interviewed by Steve Lamacq 31st August 2007 (audio)

Up next is an audio interview with Tom, when he stopped by to chat with Steve Lamacq in August of 2007. Mr Lamacq has been a long-time supporter of the band, even going as far back as their time as Snowfield. The subject matter here is very much centred on the process of writing Editors' songs and how they come about, and the overriding impression you get is just how private a person Tom is. This is particularly evident when he's discussing his lyrics and why they never appear on the sleeves of Editors' albums. There's also some mention of Tom's musical influences when he was younger; that he used to play Talk Tonight by Oasis and  High and Dry by the mighty Radiohead when he was first starting out in bands. Imagine being a fly on the wall (with a high quality recording device) for that?

The age of this clip is betrayed by Tom discussing the problems of trying to find material to fill a festival set, something which is is not really a problem right now. As part of the broadcast Steve played Escape the Nest and An End Has a Start, both of which are faded out in the spirit of self-policing and not ripping the band off. Enjoy the words ;)

brought to you with lots and lots of lemming-love :) x
