V Festival 2006 highlights show (video/audio)

V Festival 2006.......hell yeah! Get ready for some seriously wonderful Editors action, ladies and gentlemen.

There is a small warning to be issued before we begin; there were difficulties in the sound for some reason that were inherent in the broadcast itself. Sometimes it's very noticeable, sometimes not but I'd rather you walked into this venture fully armed with all the info you need, even if it is a little frustrating.

This set is a typical one from the band, being full of energy and passion (with some of the songs like Munich being played a lot faster than usual), but it's a different gig entirely due to a guest appearance towards the end. We Are Scientists, who are long-term friends of the band, bounce onstage to act as backing vocalists for Editors' run through of Orange Crush by R.E.M.  As they make their entrance Keith slaps Tom's ass and high-fives Russell (i'm not making this up), before they burst into a cracking version of the song. I like Orange Crush anyway but this is a giddy-thrill. As an aside, and what's really interesting about this choice of track to cover, is that within a couple of years Editors would actually be touring with R.E.M. as a support act. Fate and destiny, folks. It's also nice to revisit the group at that stage in their musical journey where they still feel the need to announce themselves as "a band called Editors" to the audience. Enjoy the music ;)

Bonus Material - Virgin radio broadcast
This was a short but sweet broadcast from Virgin Radio about the festival. There's Orange Crush as performed and available above but there's also an interview with the band (where we learn that Chris doesn't like camping, oh no, not at all), and an extra super exclusive acoustic performance of Bullets. Wow! Grab it all using the links below ;)
