This is a 10 minute podcast interview with Tom and Chris from KinkFM which was a radio station in the Netherlands. As is often the case the longer Editors continue the station has since ceased to be, shutting down forever on its 16th birthday, June 29th 2011.
Because of the date of this interview, the questions mainly cover the formation and early time of the band. There are some insights into the songwriting and the sound of The Back Room. One thing that's very surprising is that the DJ doesn't bring up Joy Division when comparing them to other bands, Chris does, and there's no tension evident. It's almost like they're occupying a blissful honeymoon period just before the press grabbed hold of that angle and ran it into the ground repeatedly afterwards. Sadly, if Mr Smith and Mr Urbanowicz weren't annoyed by the comparisons between Editors and Mr Curtis and co, I guarantee it wasn't too long after this that malaise and fatigue settled in.
