One of the things I've found through putting together this blog, and also when I was posting on Editors' official forum, was that there are a lot of really cool and generous people out there in the world who will help you out if you ask. This has been confirmed once again by a kind soul called Fred, who has given me the green light to use one of his snaps from the gig I'm sharing here. There are some more excellent shots from the show at his website which you should definitely check out using the link below. Thanks again, Fred:-
I will state upfront that, as is usually the case with radio broadcasts, they didn't cover the whole show and instead opted for just enough material to fill a predetermined time slot. That means that first two tracks, Lights and All Sparks weren't aired when this went live. It was ripped from FM radio and shared on Dime back in the day by ahlfred (thank you for your work, it's very much appreciated).
This is Editors' appearance at the Festival des Vieilles Charrues (which I think translates as "the festival of old ploughs") in France. The set is a collection of the usual Back Room tracks with a couple of very significant differences. Hiding in the set at song number 6 is Bones. This track was heavily previewed on the 2006 tour dates before its eventual release on An End Has a Start, where it underwent an overhaul in terms of song structure. This older version has more "Retreats" in the later part of the track, and these were removed when it was recorded for the album release. However, after the touring campaign for AEHAS had finished, and the band reappeared for the ITLAOTE promotion, they started playing the older version in their live shows. Blood sounds ferocious here and the sound quality really accentuates this great performance.

Also included is The Weight of the World, which originally began life as a Snowfield track called Every Little Piece of Your Life (it's available to download and listen to here at the blog). The Snowfield version is an up tempo guitar track, but this one is on its way to becoming an anthem when it's played live. By the time they got to Glastonbury in 2007, it had well and truly arrived and was a highlight of the shows.
There's French DJ chatter throughout the show but I hope it doesn't detract from your enjoyment too much. They're being shared in their original FLAC format, in accordance with the taper's wishes. Check it out using the links below:-
