Hear Hear Festival 14th August 2022

**UPDATED 19th August 2022 - Added two new interviews from the day of the show with Ed, Tom and Russell featured.**

Up next is Editors' set at Hear Hear Festival, 14th August 2022. There was an eerie paradox on the night, in that Editors current guitarist was being watched from the audience by none other than...Editors current guitarist. Justin Lockey was present for this one, and that is a cause for celebration. In his absence, Nic has been laying down the riffs this summer meaning Justin missed out on all the initial, incremental steps of the momentum-building part of  the campaign. A trek that will ultimately lead to the release of EBM in September. Now he's travelling again and spending time with some friendly faces, which is hopefully a positive sign for his return towards the end of the year when Editors morph into a 6 piece band with Blanck Mass. I'm genuinely happy for him, although I do miss his airport photos.
It felt like there was a wave building over the course of the earlier dates that was destined to crash down on the parched shores of the Hear Hear Festival in Belgium. Apparently, they really dig Editors in Belgium. Who knew? This is the setlist you've no doubt grown accustomed to if you've been following their progress in 2022, but this time it's being played in a not-very-cold venue. It seems to be damn hot here, and I suspect that if you were to collect the bodily excretions from all the participants here over the course of the show...3 olympic sized swimming pools would quickly become full. You could bottle that liquid to be sold as an exotic fragrance, overstate its value, make confusing adverts in black and white for it and charge thousands. All you would need is a snappy title.

"5 Go Sad in Belgium" the new fragrance by Givenchy.
Watching this back, I think that No Harm has become more emotional as it's grown older.  It's gone from a quietly brooding bout of paranoia and self-disgust, to an anthem that the band have gradually adapted themselves to fit the shape of. For me, the potential of that track hasn't been realised until much later on, and because of that it's so much more effective now. It's depth has increased with age, and either the composition or the artists were waiting for the other to catch up. Lately, on these festival stages it feels like the two are finally in sync.

Enjoy the music ;)

Both of these clips were provided by Hannah, many thanks to her for sharing. The first is from the backstage area where Willy Radio (stop that sniggering, you juvenile!) stopped by for a chat. While the second is a small featurette that appeared on the VTM Nieuws show 16h August 2022. Enjoy ;)
