Tom on John Kennedy's Xposure Show 30th October 2019

Those of us who relentlessly stalk the band online have finally had a chance to begin reconnecting with our lives, as the media blitz surrounding Black Gold has reduced from the angry river in full flood of last week to a delicate and more manageable stream. Tonight saw a welcome reunion of old acquaintances as Tom dropped by to visit with John Kennedy for his RadioX show on the 30th October 2019. Mr Smith has been the only Editor that hasn't chatted with John in some capacity this year, and so it was lovely to hear the two of them rounding off October this way. There was chatter and there was also some live music (including a super-rare take of Bullets), as well as some cuts from Black Gold being played. As usual, I removed the officially released stuff to protect those all important income streams.

I think it's that relaxed atmosphere created between host and guest that allows for some more expansive answers than we've been used to lately. For example, there's the first confirmation from Tom (possibly ever?) that if Chris hadn't become an ex-Editor, album 4 probably would have been a more electronic record. It's something some of us had long suspected but to actually hear it...was weirdly cathartic. There's also some discussion about a possible live mash-up between Papillon and Frankenstein when they play it live in the future, because both tracks are in the same key. Perhaps in the same way that Violence blends into No Harm, or when Papillon used to combine with Marching Orders? I can only imagine the seismic shifts across the Earth's surface that will be caused by all the booty-shaking it will cause. Disco-pants, assemble! Enjoy ;)
