Fragments from Medimex 7th June 2018

We've heard it, and now we can see it.

The videos here were supplied by a new friend to the Archive called So Tired, who I believe is also a ghost from the band's old official forum, as well as the original Italian Pop Kid, Mari. Thanks to you both for sharing ;) You can follow Editors Italy using these links:-

Up first we have Frankenstein and I maintain what I said about this after the first time I heard it; I think it's a sleeper track with the potential to be something really special. It creeps up on you and embeds itself in your memory, and I think that once the band and the audience catch up to it the mosh pit will be fizzing with activity, in the same way Papillon ignites those fires under everybody's feet. This certainly isn't the band that graced the tiny stages of the touring toilet circuit here in the UK all those years ago, a fact that I know has turned a lot of people off. Some folks will always want them to relentlessly explore the myriad of ways that Munich can be rewritten and performed, album after album, but I'm all about that evolution thing.

Most importantly of all is that the band are attacking it with the energy that only a new composition can bring. It brings them to life in a way that playing An End Has a Start for the 7,000th time just can't do. If you're a fan of this band then you want to see them enjoying what they're playing. If you only take Russell as your barometer of enthusiasm, watching this lets you know they're digging the new stuff.

As an aside, did you notice that the stage lighting is green for this song, just like it was when they were first playing The Pulse a couple of years ago? Coincidence? Hmmm....

Further down the page you'll find two videos from the Italian Pop Kids, in the form of Barricades and Mari's own recording of Frankenstein.
