This was an event held in Belgium to crown the Sports Personality of the Year on the 19th December 2010. It took place at the Casino Kursaal in Ostend and there were two musical guests for the ceremony; one being Hooverphonic and the other was Tom. As well as a full band rendition of Papillon, Mr Smith performed No Sound but the Wind on piano and you can check it out here using the link below where there's also an MP3. The mixing on this is superb and it really allows the song to breathe. There's lots of little minor vocal alterations made by Tom on the fly, small enough that the lay person probably wouldn't notice but Editors fans, we notice these things. There's something wonderfully subversive about this song being a part of a celebratory evening of sporting achievement. It couldn't be further away from the spirit of that event, but there it is. Love it.

This is the second track played by Editors at the annual Sports Personality of the Year awards ceremony in Ostend, 19th December 2010. After only a few seconds of watching this video you'll be able to see the editing tactic used by the show's producers, and that was to never have a single shot that lasts more than a second or two. It has the migraine summoning effect of trying to find a piece of white paper in a blizzard, with constant cutting between people and angles. The song is as great as it usually is, it's just that watching it feels like sensory overload at times.
Oh yeah, and we see you Jason C. Looking sharp, Sir.
Enjoy the music ;)
