British Summer Time 7th July 2018 (FLAC Audio)

I was so, so happy to see this surface from the underground. Doublec has made some great quality Editors recordings in the past that I've been lucky enough to share and this is no exception. Considering the size and structure of the venue, this is amazing work and it's being shared in its original FLAC format in accordance with the taper's wishes. Many thanks to you for making it available for us all to enjoy ;)

So why was this gig so special? It saw the band playing a show at the personal request of Robert Smith. If you have listened to any music that is even remotely melancholic made during the last 30-40 years, then there's every chance The Cure either recorded it or influenced it. For me in my own musical life there's a certain lineage that goes through groups like The Doors, Joy Division/New Order (sorry!), Depeche Mode, The Cure, Nirvana and Editors; they're sound or lyrics all have that power that seems to hit you physically. Some artists make music that moves through you only to be forgotten after the moment has passed, and then there's the ones that flick a switch in you that it's difficult to turn back off. For no reason other than to celebrate Captain Bob and his motley crew, here's the Cure related items currently being spun on repeat here at Lemming-Acres. Check them out wherever you find music and swoon:-

This Twilight Garden
Lament (Flexipop Version)
The Same Deep Water as You
All I Want
Icing Sugar
Burn
All Cats Are Grey
Doing the Unstuck
Short Term Effect

Please note that this list changes on a week to week basis so don't view it with any finality. Their back catalogue is ridiculously good.

There's a lots of bands that cite The Cure as an inspiration, and let's not forget that Editors covered Lullaby way back when, so to have them reach out and offer a slot on what was already a wonderful bill must have been a trip. Especially for Mr Williams who is a confirmed Cure head. Definitely another little piece of Editors' history being made and I'm so happy to be able to preserve and pass it along here. That they actually managed to convince this many goths to come out in the sunshine is a small miracle. Enjoy the music ;)
